Celtics deserve. Game 2 should’ve been ours. Rondo played his heart out…just as LBJ deserved and won this game…if Celtics play like the Celtics we’ve come to love…they will win the series. Never stop believing. We got you Celtics.
Also, seems like everyone has jumped off the Celtics bandwagon. I kind of like it better this way because as a wise man once said…The naysayers is what will drive them even more.
I always joke about green and white running through my veins, but in my eyes, it is the truth. I say this because my parents were born and raised in Nigeria and I am a Nigerian born and raised in America. Green and white also runs through my veins because I am a Celtic. I fell in love with the Celtics when I was 10 years-old and it was all because I saw my country’s colors. Now jump to me at the age of 22 and I still love my Celtics! Through all the good seasons and the bad I stuck with this team. Even after getting passed the team colors I fell in love with a franchise that gives their all, plays as a team and just plays because they love the game of basketball. Celtic fans are like no other.
The Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in the NBA and they rightly deserve to be so. With the likes of past players like Bill Russell, Sam Jones, Bob Cousy, Robert Parish and the great Red Auerbach to name a few. The Celtics are a team that should be respected NBA fans alike even if you’re not a fan of them. They play to win, they play with heart and they play as a team.
Going into this 2011-2012 NBA season just made me fall in love with this team even more. The Boston Celtics are now playing for a chance to play in the NBA Finals on Saturday, June 9th, 2012. It is a win or go home game for both my beloved Celtics and the Miami Heat. As a diehard Celtics fan I want them to win, not only because I am a fan, but because they deserve to be here. Since the beginning of the season and even after the All-Star break people aside from TRUE Celtic fans were counting the C’s out and just saying they were old and done! Fast-forward and look at where they are now; yes they are on the brink of elimination but they are in a position that a bunch of other teams in the NBA wish they were in right now. By all account the Boston Celtics were not supposed to even make it this far.
I am so proud of this team that words cannot even describe. Even if the Big 3 is disbanded, I am staying loyal to the green and white. This is a team of integrity and passion. A team that has consistently beat all the odds even with everything and everyone were and still are against them. I love this team simply because they are a team and because of their history. They have accomplished things that other franchises and individuals can only dream of.
I have always said to never count out the Celtics and I still believe that. Yes, they never do anything the easy way, but that is simply part of who they are as a team. I respect how they go into every game with heart. Win or lose this is a team that always give it their all even if the box scores says otherwise. Box scores are great and all, but it can never truly define who individuals are as players or who players are as a team. Box scores change but a player who truly loves the game and has a passion to play like no other will always trump box scores any day in my opinion and that’s the Boston Celtics.
I must admit that I just wanted to cry after the Game 2 lost to the Heat, because Rondo played one of the greatest game I ever seen and the team deserved to win after such a great effort. I shed small tears because it’s such a tough way to lose a game, but I also smiled because it showed all the non-believers out there that the Celtics are a force to be reckoned with. It showed all those doubters that the C’s are not to be taken lightly because talent, passion and championship pedigree is in their DNA. I also had to smile when Rondo said how he played was irrelevant because they lost, and he was right. However they then went on to win the next three and I smiled even more.
Game 6 was heartbreaking for me to see them lose the way they did, but as a loyal fan I was glued to my TV even when I knew this game was out of reach. I watched because this team is my team and I stay the course along with them, win or lose because that is what a true fan does. I wanted to shed tears of joy when all the TRUE fans (in my opinion) who stayed until the final buzzer were chanting “Let’s Go Celtics.” It made me truly glad to be a fan and supporter of this team. It made me wish I was there in the Garden and not hundreds of miles away.
I would like to end this by saying thank you! Thank you to the Celtics organization, Doc Rivers, the players (who are playing and who are not), the true FANS and everyone who has played a part in getting this franchise to where they are now. To be a fan and a part of this team you have to understand the history, both good and bad. You have to embrace the legacy of this team and all that they have done. You may not like them, but you have to respect them.
I want to wish you all the best of luck in Game 7 in Miami. Whether you guys win or lose (and of course I’m hoping for a win) I just want you all to go out there and play Boston Celtics basketball. Go out there and leave it all on the court. Play for each other, your family, the fans or whoever you want. Just go out there and give them your all. Play with passion and courage, all will be fine. Win or lose I am ALWAYS going to be a Celtic. Green and white will ALWAYS run through my veins.
Best of luck and lots of love,
Loyal Celtics fan since 1999
